(Maternity insurance) This insurance covers employed or self-employed women who are insured under Law No. 5510. The maternity period begins from the date of pregnancy confirmation for the insured woman’s or the insured man’s non-insured spouse and extends to the first eight weeks postpartum, or the first ten weeks in the case of multiple pregnancies. Conditions related to pregnancy and maternity, including illness and disabilities during this period, are considered maternity situations. Individuals covered by this insurance are entitled to maternity benefits, which include a breastfeeding allowance and temporary incapacity payments to compensate for income losses during their leave. The breastfeeding allowance is also paid to the insured man in the event of the non-insured spouse giving birth.
