August futures contract based on the BIST 30 index started the week at a decline of 0.14% at 16,655.00 points.
On Friday, the August futures index contract experienced a sell-off, concluding the regular session with a decrease of 0.20% at 16,679.00 points. The index contract continued to decline during the evening session, trading at 16,646.00 points.
In today’s opening session, the August futures index contract is trading at 16,655.00 points, down 0.14% compared to the previous normal session close.
Global markets are facing negativity due to remarks from Federal Reserve Chairman Kevin Warsh at the Jackson Hole Economic Policy Symposium, which have strengthened expectations for interest rate hikes, as well as increasing tensions in the Middle East.
Domestically, attention is focused on growth figures. Economists participating in AA Finans’s survey estimate that the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) will increase by 2.80% year-on-year in the second quarter. The median of economists’ growth expectations for the entirety of 2026 stands at 3%.
Analysts remind that today marks the end of the contract term for index and equity futures, warning that volatility in the markets may increase due to investors’ position carrying and closing transactions.
Economists’ growth expectations have become clearer
Ahead of the second-quarter growth data for the Turkish economy, economists’ expectations have been revealed. In a survey conducted by AA Finans with 11 economists, the annual growth forecast was calculated at 2.80%.
