Pareto Optimum Nedir? Pareto Optimumu Hakkında Kapsamlı Bilgi

(Pareto optimality) This concept of social welfare was developed by Vilfredo Pareto. According to Pareto’s definition of optimal welfare, “A society’s welfare is optimal if it is impossible to improve the welfare of at least one person without reducing the welfare of another.” In Pareto’s understanding of optimality, there is a constant focus on remaining “neutral” by avoiding value judgments and seeking objective measurements. For him, production choices are regarded as a political issue. To address this political problem, an economist aims to carry out the chosen production as efficiently as possible. Similarly, altering income distribution does not fall within the economist’s responsibilities. Economists should accept the distribution as given and explore ways to increase the welfare of others without diminishing that of a single individual. Achieving Pareto optimality requires efficiency in both production and consumption. If it is impossible to increase the production of at least one good without reducing the production quantity of another, then production efficiency has been attained. For consumption efficiency to occur, the marginal rate of substitution between consumption goods must be the same for all consumers. In other words, efficiency in consumption is achieved at the point where it is no longer possible to increase the consumption of one good without decreasing the consumption of another.
